Libido

Women's Libido plays an important role in procreation

Our entire universe is sustained based on creation, preservation and destruction. These activities are happening continually in nature. Every minute there all species of living being including micro organisms to various animals, birds, plant life as well as human beings are taking birth and similarly every minute many more are disappearing from the face of earth. Thus there exists a balance in nature. The creativity principle is maintained with the help of sexual procreation of several animals and humans too. Other than through sexual means, procreation is also possible in asexual methods too which can be seen in plants and a few other species too. But with advanced and developed species the procreation is mainly dependant upon sexual means.

In case of animals, the sexual drive is conditioned and seasoned. However in mankind the sexual drive exists but is left to the free will of the individual. Amongst human beings the sexual libido is present both in men as well as women, for without the sexual drive, there cannot be any sexual interaction between a man and a woman. Nature has also provided for the natural cycle in the human bodies where in with onset of puberty the sexual organs get activated and the body is ready to engage in sex and aid procreation. The sexual drive in men awakes very early by around twelve to fourteen and continues to exist until their old age. The sexual drive is essentially dependant upon the male hormone testosterone which does not cease production even at a advancing age but might reduce with age.

However in case of women the sexual drive is influenced not only by the physical drive but a lot of other complex factors to contribute to the female libido. The emotional status of mind and the environment play a major role in the females depending upon which their libido can be active or they might suffer from low sexual drive. Women unlike men are not driven only by their libido alone. They are driven by emotions and feelings which most often take priority over matter. The health and libido in women is a very complex system. By complex we do not mean physiologically but are prone to a lot of variation due to the mental as well as physical health. Women’s libido is directly related to their menstrual cycle too. Seven days before the onset of ovulation, the libido is said to be at the highest level as the body prepares for release of eggs and fertilization. Amongst the factors that affect the women’s libido, most important or critical factors are to do with their physical health and mental or emotional health.

If women are obese and overweight, their libido will be affected so also their metabolism. If women fall ill due to any major illness or disease, it can affect their libido too. Now days most women in their mid thirties and early forties tend to fall prey to thyroid, diabetes and blood pressure as well as cholesterol and other lifestyle diseases. These health conditions do affect their libido too. Most often women easily fall prey to depression, anxiety and complexes which have a drastic affect on their libido.

There are several treatment options for overcoming the problem or lack of sexual drive in women. However it is important to first identify the exact problem to see if it is a medical or physical problem or is psychological. Accordingly the treatment course would vary.
